Show and Tell Friday

I am participating in Show and Tell Friday over at My Romantic Home So for more show and tells you can head over to her gorgeous site!

I love, love, love baskets. Every time I bring a new one home my husband always asks me the same thing, "don't you think you have enough baskets?"

One of the things I love about organizing with baskets is that they are relatively inexpensive. You can often find a set of 3 for $10 or less. I live on Guam and if I can find cheap baskets here...well enough said!

My big one is my newest one. It was my Valentines Day gift from my husband. We are nothing if not practical! (: I use it when we entertain to hold paper products, plastic utensils etc. It even has a pocket that is perfect for a Handi Wipes dispenser! (:

I have baskets of paper for scrapbooking, baskets of toys, baskets for remotes, baskets for shoes. Small baskets for nail clippers and tweezers. Baskets for unmatched socks and unfortunatley...baskets for laundry!

Do you like to use baskets to organize? I would love to see your ideas.

Also, I am having a GIVEAWAY, so if you want to go here
I would love for you to enter!

Thanks for stopping by!

Show and Tell Friday

(chore reminders, a quick quote and a note to my boys about their activity that night!)

If you are interested in checking out more Show and Tell Friday's you can go here:My Romantic Home

I love, love, love my chalkboard! My sweet husband made it for me almost 3 years ago now! It is the perfect spot for quotes, reminders, and messages. We use it on birthdays and to write holiday greetings. I am thinking I would like a couple smaller ones for other areas in my home. It is pretty easy and inexpensive to make your own.

Show and Tell Friday

(not the best photo but...)
I was a little sad to see that Show and Tell Friday was no longer being done over at There is No Place Like Home. I really have enjoyed looking at her blog and getting some fabulous ideas. But not to fear, My Romantic Home looks like a fun new place to look around & be inspired!

I haven't done a Show and Tell for a little while. What can I say? Life gets in the way sometimes.

This week I wanted to share this chest with you. I bought 2 of these big wicker chests about 10 years ago. I love them. I haven't found the *perfect* use for them but...so far this is my favorite.

My family, including myself, just can't quite manage to get our shoes back into our bedrooms. So a shoe basket by the door is a necessity. I have had smaller ones that just didn't cut it.

I wanted to make a "landing spot" for my children as they come through the door. Including a spot to sit and take their shoes off.

So my always handy husband, used a piece of wood (repurposed from my daughters old loft bed) and made a nice sturdy top. I love it!! I can place things on it ( like 40 lb. children) to help with shoes.

I haven't quite finished my "landing spot" but when I do...I will be sure to show and tell it! (:

Show and Tell Friday

Today for Show and Tell, I thought I would share something that my husband built for me.

I am a very lucky lady. My husband is very handy. However he also has this incredible gift, to look at something (a piece of wood, a piece of furniture etc) and see what else it could be. Does that make sense? This was "just a shelf". He built it when our boys needed a little extra storage. Nothing fancy, just a shelf.

We recently moved and I was having a problem finding places to put our office/desk items. At first we just put the shelves on the floor and called it good. But he had something different in mind.

So he took the shelf and added these doors to it. I picked out the handles but he did it all. The colored squares and rectangles were all of his own design. Now I can put the majority of my stuff in and put it behind closed doors. The other great thing about this shelf? The only item that we bought was the hinges. :)

Thanks for looking at my show and tell. I could have a whole series on just things my husband has made! :) If you want to see more, just go over to Kelli's.

Show and Tell Friday

Wow, it has been a loooong time since I updated this blog!!

I don't know if this really counts as a show and tell but...I am hoping I will be forgiven! :)

When I first got this blog up and running, I participated in a lot of meme's. I really enjoyed doing challenges, planning menu's etc. I got a lot done and enjoyed my time at home.

Last October, I found out that I was pregnant. I was very happy and excited but found morning sickness and exaughstion to be my constant companions! Taking care of 4 kids, my husband and all that they require...well blogging and home care took a back seat.

I am one of those women, and I know it sounds awful, but who doesn't enjoy being pregnant. But once the baby comes I have this newfound energy. It is amazing to me, how much better I feel when the baby is born.

Now, with 5 kids to take care of, I find myself craving cleanliness, organization, home cooked everything...so I am going to start participating in meme's again!! I am so looking forward to it. So for my show and tell, I am introducing the "newest thing" to come into my home...

Mason Charles born on July 10th. He is a sweetheart and I am enjoying all the fun that comes with having a newborn in the home!

Looking forward to sharing something just as fun next week!

Show and Tell Friday

(Sorry for the sideways picture)

As I was trying to decide what to share today, I started looking around my home. What item to share? With Thanksgiving coming up next month, I decided on this litle bowl.

My husband is in the Navy, and works with the Seabees. I am always looking for bee items to decorate with. You would be surprised at the amount of bee stuff some of the wives have!!

I was given this bowl by the Captains wife as a welcome to Guam gift, where we are currently stationed. Whenever I look at the "Bee thankful" it reminds me of what my husband and the other men in the military do. And I am thankful for my Seabee. It also reminds me to be thankful for the friendships I make a long the way. We are very far from home, but we have made so many wonderful friends in our military career, and we haven't even been in that long!!

Show and Tell Friday

I can't believe that I have only done one of these! I did one back in April and haven't done one since. I have not been updating this blog as much but am trying to get back. So here is my first show and tell in a loooong time!

Over Labor Day weekend, I turned the big 3-0! And I was spoiled rotten. Besides a much wanted bread maker, my husband built me a new entertainment center! I had been complaining about all of our dvd's, video game systems, cords and etc. So he designed a new one and than spent the last couple of weeks making it for me. I love it! Tons of storage, no cords showing. He also turned the old entertainment center into a scrapbook armoire. I haven't taken pictures yet, maybe next week!

He also bought me a new dining set. Unfortunatley it hasn't come into the store yet. We have had our old table for 5 years and we bought it at a thrift store. It is starting to wobble really badly, and is getting to small for our family. While we were at the furniture store, I also got to get two cute baskets. I love baskets for storage and decorating. The picture is of the bigger one.

Am I spoiled or what? I am so glad I have such a sweet and handy husband!

Show and Tell Friday

Every Friday Harmony is going through her room, looking for things that she wants to bring to Show and Tell. I know she loves it and has fun sharing her favorite things. So when I saw Show and Tell Friday over at I thought it would be fun to participate.

So here goes..With St.Patricks Day and Easter being so close together, I didn't really decorate for either. I have one St. Pattys Day decoration to go on the door and that is all I have! Easter I have a few more but not that many. When I was at the Navy Exchange the other day, all their Easter deco's were 20% off. While I would have preferred a bigger discount, the items were not that expensive to begin with! So here are the ones I bought.

My fav. is the little girl bunny sitting on the chair. The boy is cute but he doesn't stay on his chair very well. I was thinking of hot glueing him on there, but I am just wondering if these chairs could be used for something else also. So I am kind of hesitant about it.

The kids really like the one that has the chalkboard. They love chalkboards. Next week I will have to share the one that Ben made for the kids.

Well that is it for my first Show and Tell. Go over to Kelli's site to see more!
