Menu and a GIVEAWAY!
**I am having an issue loading pictures on to my computer. If they are just in my picture folder they don't want to come up. But I am linking to Menu Plan Monday at
I couldn't leave my post picture-less though!(: So this is the pizza that my little 5 year old made me at school one day!
Food. I plan it, make it, eat it, pack it, cook it, bake it, and clean it up. I swear my life revolves around food! Anyway, here is my meal plan for the week. It is an unusual week for us as we are eating out 2x's for birthdays. But here we go...
Monday: macaroni w/ chili & tomatoes, corn, rolls, PW's potato skins
Tuesday: comfort meatballs (Pioneer Woman recipe), mashed potatoes and gravy with salad and rolls
Wednesday: teriyaki chicken in stir fry, brown rice
Thursday: eating out
Friday: My hubby's birthday! The menu is t-bone steaks on the grill (Mom and Dad only lol)the kids get turkey burgers, roasted corn salad (PW recipe), crashed hot potatoes, salad, and red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting (of course!)
Saturday: my son's birthday! He requested...TACO BELL. He's 8 what can I say?
Sunday: chili pie casserole, green beans, corn bread
Other recipes I am trying this week: PW's pico de gallo!! (:
If you noticed, lol, I am making a lot of the Pioneer Woman's recipes this week. I found her blog through friends and have been a HUGE fan ever since. I was excited for her cookbook to come out but was worried it wouldn't be on Guam.
However, on Saturday, while walking around our Navy exchange store, I saw it! The last copy on the shelf. I picked it up without hesitation and it went straight into my cart. I was so excited I started looking at it on the drive home.
The book is complete and total eye candy. The food, photos, stories...oh I just love it! My husband opened it and looking through the recipes said, "oh this is so not good for our diets!" (:
I ended up with an extra copy, so I am giving one away! If you want to enter to win the greatest cookbook of all time, all you have to do is...leave a comment telling me what your favorite go to cookbook is. If you want a second entry, you can become one of my followers! Pretty easy right?
I also have one other book to give...a copy of Southern Living Comfort Food!
Can't wait to see your favorite books!

My favorite go to cookbook is actually a Ward cookbook given to me for Christmas by April Hunt. It was the Kailua 2nd Ward Relief Society cookbook from Hawaii. ;)
Have you already given the cookbook away? I sure hope not! Anyways my favorite go to cookbook is called fix it and forget it. It's a crockpot recipe book. I love it because number one the crockpot is awesome and number two many of the recipes call for ingredients I already have in my house!
No I haven't given it away yet! I just realized I didn't put a closing date! What a dork I will make sure to add one! (:
Julie you make me laugh!
My favorite cookbook is an older Pillsbury one. The recipes are simple (which I desperately need) and always seem to turn out well. I love it! I've heard so much about the Pioneer Woman - I'd love to win her cookbook. Fun!
I have two the first is Susan Branch Heart of the Home Cookbook and the second is the first Ina Garten Barefoot Contessa.

I don't really have a fave cookbook since I make up my own recipes LOL But I do like to read cookbooks, I read them like novels :)
I dont want to enter since I live in the netherlands and it's no fun having to mail to me but I LOVE cookbooks! I really love the taste of Home cookbooks. I used to love going to the thrift stores and getting realyl excited when I would find cookbooks from the 50's and 60's..loved those old school recipes..lol
My favorite cookbook is one my mom actually made several years ago (when I was in the 4th grade). She asked all our relatives to include some recipes. I think your mom even included some. I love it and it is still my favorite.
Actually I have to thank you Marie because I go on the Mommy's Kitchen blog and have gotten a ton of yummy recipes!! My family (especially my husband!) thanks you! :-)
I love to cook! Nice idea on the ketchup packets...came over on that post. :)
My fave cookbook is my Taste of Home cookbook and my High School Fundraiser cookbook.
Blessings to you,
lana @ ilovemy5kids
My favorite recipes are generally ones I've gotten from friends or blogs. Having said that, I do have a lot of recipe books. I like my old Betty Crocker book and my community cookbooks.
My favorite recently has been Rachel Rays kids cookbook. It has gotten the boys to want to be in the kitchen with me and cook. My all time favorite has been the one my mom made for me when I got married. It has all of the family recipes plus ones that I have added over the years.
My favorite cookbook is my cookbook. Its my go to cookbook. It's recipes that I've compiled for years and years from family and the internet. They are tested and true recipes my family loves and my go to for something different. If that one doesn't count than my next go to cookbook is Deceptively Delicious. I love knowing I can hide stuff in the foods my kids already love!
My favorite go to cookbook is the Betty Croker cookbook (Everything You Need to Know to Cook Today)!

If you're taking international entries, I'd like to enter. I don't really have a favourite cookbook. Before the internet I would borrow library books and look through them for recipes I had to have. Now I do the same thing but on the internet. If I see a recipe I like, I bookmark it and if it is one that has ingredients I don't have then I might search for similiar recipes and combine them. (I have too much spare time!)
My favourite cookbook is the Complete Harrowsmith Cookbook. I how so many of the recipes use ingredients we grow ourselves.
My go-to isn't a COOKBOOK per se-- it's a recipe box full of family recipes that my mom handmade for me last Christmas. It is so great to be able to make all the things I enjoyed eating as a kid! Of course, I'd be interested to try out the Pioneer Woman's dishes, too... ;-)
My go to cookbook is the old Betty Crocker cookbook and a cookbook my hubby's grandmother gave us that was put together by the older ladies at her church. It has conversions in it and all kinds of great info!
My go-to cookbook is one put together by my awesome ward in Arizona. It has lots of yummy food and the recipes are usually fairly simple with ingredients I already have.
My favorite cookbook right now is Ina Garten's Barefoot Contessa at Home. That said, I really don't have too many cookbooks to choose from. I'd love to win this!
my favorite book isn't a book it is a magazine. I love it. It is the Taste of Home magazines. and I got a giant cook book of it for Christmas that I am trying things out of too.
